COVID-19 will cause telecoms revenue and the number of mobile connections to fall in EMAP, MENA and DVAP

The outbreak of COVID-19 has resulted in worldwide disruptions, including lockdown measures, an increased demand for communications services and high economic pressure for businesses. The lockdown measures have negatively affected the revenue of most telecoms operators worldwide and in many cases, have led to a reduction in the number of mobile connections. This article examines the impact of COVID-19 on telecoms service revenue and the number of mobile connections in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), developed Asia–Pacific (DVAP) and emerging Asia–Pacific (EMAP). We have modelled the GDP following our ‘moderate’ scenario for all regions.
